Day Nine without my Parents

What's the link between swedish style pop and death metal music? Soichi Negishi!

Detroit Metal City is a 'showdown' between the innocent and nerdy Soichi and the costumed and grotesquely made-up "demon emperor" Johannes Krauser II. Wow, talk about split personality! Such different personalities on one person.

Kudos to Kenichi Matsuyama, who also appeared as L in the famous movie series - Death Note. Unbelievable performance! Watch DMC and you'll know what I mean. =)

Day Seven and Eight without my Parents

Had my team bbq on Friday night at my manager's place. Lots of people, food and drinks as usual. Nothing fancy, just a get-together with colleagues after work to relax and have the much-needed fun.

a
Check out the happy people in the photo. =D
a
28.03.09... Went to JJ's concert on Sat where he kick start his world tour performance from his hometown Singapore. Once again I bought the most expensive seats. Heh.
a
a
His singing was very good, with performance on piano, guitar and some beatboxing. Totally enjoyed it. But to be frank, the special guest and the concert itself was only so so. Nothing too fancy, nothing too special. But still worth my $ la. My fav part gotta be when his whole family - dad, mom and bro - appeared on stage to perform 醉赤壁 (1 of my fav song right now) together on the pipa, erhu and piano. Gosh, I didn't know his entire family is so talented! I am impressed.
a
P/S: I made this observation. JJ's fans are the 'calmed' type becos nobody stood up during the first half of the concert, not even during the fast numbers! Weird. o_O

Day Six without my Parents

One of my colleagues fainted in the car park today. Luckily, he still has a little conscious left to call his manager, who came down and carried him back to the office. What exactly happened, I'm not sure. All I know is his health hasn't been on the good side, and he has been on mc quite frequently. Hope he's feeling better now.

One's health is really very important. You never know when a small tiny flu bug or virus might take you down. So people, do take good care of yourself. Drink more water, exercise regularly, eat wisely and maintain a healthy lifestyle. =D

And today's rundown: Work. Home. Dinner. Sleep. The usual.

Day Three without my Parents

Monday as usual is kinda Blue; especially if you have to walk all the way out to the mrt under the freaking Big Hot Sun, after which you need to squeeze into the 'sardine packed' train. o_O Oh well, daily routine so no use complaining.

Nothing much happened at work. Time passed by, painfully slow.

Met up with Jo for dinner @ Marina Square's Kenny Roger. Been a long time since I hang out with her alone, just the 2 of us. Talked about this, gossiped about that and have a few good laughs. Something I really need after a long day at work.

Day Two without my Parents

Spent the first half of the day finishing up Saiyuki Reload. Met Gret in the late afternoon for some girl bonding time aka Shopping at Bugis. Bought a pair of black killer heels. Think I look quite nice (sexy) in them, though I need more time adjusting to the new height. And bought some hammy food and snacks.

After dinner, we went to Esplanade for some free Latin music performances.

Sipping tcc premium coffee, enjoying nice music on the last day of the Mosaic Fest, this is what I call Life. Both of us were saying "If only Salsalicious is here. We will just start dancing to the music.. If only.."

Day One without my Parents

Moi Papa and Mama went to hainan island yet again. Probably life in sg is too boring for them; perhaps life in the countryside suits them better. Anyway, I woke up around 4am to send them off. Came home around 6am to find myself unable to sleep despite tossing and turning in bed.

Decided to watch anime. Saiyuki Reload. Ate a curry chix puff while watching. Watched till 8plus. Decided to try sleeping cos really getting tired. Another round of toss and turn.

Decided to brew coffee. Skipped breakfast. Washed the hamster's cage. Read the newspapers. Watched a documentary on 'surrogate mothers in india' on channelnewsasia. Watched some more anime. Chatted with friends on msn. Ate late lunch - duck rice- at 2pm.

Finally dozed off at 2plus. Slept till 3plus. o_O Better than nothing.

File and paint my nails. Continue to watch anime. Ate dinner at 6plus. Played with hamster for a while cos she seem bored too. Watched tw idol drama from 9.30pm - 11pm. Fell asleep around 11plus.

Well, sometimes you just have to be patient and wait for the Right One to come.

Met up with my ex-colleagues last Friday for dinner and drinks. Can you imagine some of us have not seen one another for 2-3 years? Gosh! But it was a warm familiar feeling, brought back good memories which otherwise might have been forgotten.

It's actually not easy to gather everyone and make sure they turn up. Busy schedule, non-responsive to sms-es and emails contributed to 'gathering failures'. If not for the IMPORTANT announcement and for the fact that I indicated it as 'COMPULSORY AND MUST ATTEND', I don't think the attendance will be full. But I'm glad it turned out Okay.

So, what's the BIG announcement? Ahem. Our dear Pauline, or Paul Paul as Joyce dearly calls her, is GETTING MARRIED! Yes yes! This coming May! It was so sudden! A few weeks before this gathering, I received a sms from her, informing me the good news. So I volunteered to help her arranged the dinner so she can make a one-time announcement. I still remember how she blush when she told us how they met and how he proposed.

Her husband-to-be came to join us at Helipad and we actually forced him to proposal again on the spot! Waah, so sweet! Wish you ALL THE BEST and ALL HAPPINESS, Pauline! =D

"Clearance Puppy"

Adapted from John Grogan's bestselling book about his Labrador retriever, Marley & Me is a heartwarming story about a couple who adopts a badly behaved but much-loved dog who eventually teaches them what really matters in life.

On surface, this movie might seem to be another story about the life of a dog. Well, to a certain extent, it is. But it's actually much more. It's about making sacrifices, compromising and learning what is truly important and matters in life.

The first half of the movie was quite funny, revolving around the life of the Grogans with a new member - Marley - in the family. The story then moved on to the expansion of the Grogan family with 3 kids and how they coped with the major changes in life.

But well, the last 15 mins was very touching. I cried. =x

Wakashachiya and Helipad

Met up with a bunch of close friends for dinner and drinks at The Central yesterday. An early birthday celebration for my gf, Jo, whose actual birthday falls on next Tuesday. Don't you hate it when your birthday falls on a weekday which is not Friday? Ok, I've digress. First up.. Wakashachiya Curry Udon @ The Central 3rd floor

Pretty good comments were given on websites like hungrygowhere.com and yebber.com. But I guess sometimes such comments cannot be trusted entirely. Firstly, the food selection is limited. Perhaps this restaurant specializes in curry udon so more than 3/4 of the menu are curry + udon. Ebi Tempura curry udon, Katsu curry udon, Fried Salmon curry udon etc.

Secondly, the food wasn't really that fantastic. Personally, I think the curry taste a bit like mashed potato gravy and the udon is a little too firm for my liking. Their side orders such as unagi eggrolls and unagi riceballs are only so so.

Lastly, poor service. We waited for almost 15 mins for our tea to be served. And I think they mixed up our orders. I don't think they have enough staff for the Saturday dinner rush.

Final verdict: Well, it's just... Curry Udon, lor. Next up.. Helipad @ The Central 5th floor

Tucked away at a corner on the 5th floor carpark, Helipad is a 2-level fresh lounge concept bar. The entrance is pretty unique. When I saw the lift door, I thought we have to take another separate lift to reach the bar. To my surprise, the door actually opens up directly to the main entrance of Helipad. o_O

The first level features an indoor area with spacious seating, warmly-lit atmosphere and a central DJ console set playing smooth lounge beats. Framing the interior is a gigantic mesh structure forming a masterpiece that hovers above the DJ console.

a
The second level is a rooftop area where you can enjoy the magnificent landscape of the city skyline.
a
Final verdict: A nice place to relax and chill out after work or on weekends.
