Older yet again..

It's the time of the year again. Finally I'm joining my friends who had already stepped into the 'late 20es' zone. Omg! Time really flies! T_T

Oh well, life still goes on.. So here I am at Ju Shin Jung Korean Charcoal BBQ Restaurant with Baby and his family for lunch in celebration of his dad's birthday actually, but also for mine Lar.

Located at West Coast Highway, this restaurant serves authentic korean cuisine. We ordered the unlimited BBQ buffet, which is $29+++ per person. It might seem expensive, but with unlimited servings of pork and chicken, and too many side dishes, and 1 free main course per person, it's actually quite worth the price. =)

Wide spread of side dishes.

Beef soup. Definitely a MUST-TRY! The soup is full of the essence from the fresh beef, ginseng and red dates. Woot!~

Bibimbah. I'm not a big fan of bibimbahs, but this taste so good that I don't mind having a second helping. They are generous with the ingredients and sauce.

Now for the highlight of the day - the BBQ! If I'm not wrong, they serve only pork and chicken, and 3 button mushrooms with each plate of meat. The waitress will help to cook and cut the meat into bite size pieces. So for ladies (and gentlemen) who do not want to dirty their hands, this is the right place for you. =)

This is definitely a place for all korean food lovers. If you think West Coast is too far, they have another outlet at East Coast Park. =)

After the sumptuous meal, Baby and I dropped by Vivo, wanting to watch Rush Hour 3. But all tickets sold out except for the 11.30pm slot. So after coffee and muffin at Pacific Coffee Company, we headed down to Bugis to get my hammies! =)

A happy girl with her new pet hamsters. *grinz

My hammies! Ain't they simply adorable? AahHh~

Their colorful home. =)

Fast forward 3 days..

Finally received my birthday present from Baby - a champagne gold PSP! Yippee!~ I cried when I got it from Baby's hands. Tears of joy..

An ecstatic girl with her new PSP.

Other than the console set, charger and screen protector, Baby upgraded the set to include the casing, earpiece and strap! Plus, he bought a 4 gb memory with preloaded games! *grinz

Thank you, Baby! Love ya!~

Celebrations @ Blue Mist Cafe

Let me start with a few coincidences..

Firstly, Valerie and I celebrated our birthday together on the same day, same month, just 1 year apart. Last year, we celebrated on the 23rd of August at Fuego. This year, again on the 23rd of August, we celebrated our birthday at Blue Mist Cafe at Amara S.C. Secondly, again we celebrated this special day with our bunch of fun-loving and adorable Salsalicious gang. Thirdly, we spent this day salsa-ing away, just like last year.

Photo taken at Fuego last year. Those circled in red actually celebrated our birthday with us again this year on the same day! Too bad Terence (the guy circled blue) can't join us as he is studying in Australia now. =(

Is this pure coincidence, or fate? I wonder.. Anyway, back to the celebrations.

Blue Mist Cafe sells American-style food. Just look at our table full of delicious food! Fish & chips, grilled fish, grilled chicken salad, nacho with cheese, onion rings, fries and more fries. The portions are quite big so you might want to consider sharing.

The guys surprised us with 2 small cakes - 1 chocolate, 1 green tea. Isn't the gang sweet? Just like the cakes. =)

First, let's make a wish. It's a tradition.

Hooray! Finally we can eat the cake! *drool~

Let me taste it first..

Hang on, gotta take a photo with the cake before it ends up in our stomach!

I'm gonna eat the cake! Muahaha~

A group photo to capture the happy moments in life. =)

Birthday present from Valerie. A sliver necklace that I always wanted. Thanks girl!!

Cute makan place!

Away from the usual crowded shopping malls, this cafe is located in Purvis street, just 1 street away from Seah street.

With its pinkish signboards, little hearts hanging at the entrance and colorful deco, many may think this is a girls' hangout place. Frankly, the girlish style might not attract many male customers, but their food sure will!

Isn't this menu adorable? AahHh~

Ok, let's begin with the starters..

Dish #1 MAMBO JUMBO

Fries topped with melted cheese, chicken sausage and ham, with black pepper sauce as the base. This is definitely for all cheese lovers out there! The cheese is rich but not too much to cover the rest of the ingredients.

Dish #2 GARLIC CRUSTED SCALLOPS

The scallops are covered with garlic and baked to perfection! How do I put it? Simply Yummy-licious! *Slurp~

See how FAT the scallops are? OMG! Drool~

Time for the main courses..

Dish #3 BLACK ANGUS RIB-EYE

According to Alex, who went to try out this new cafe with me, the steak wasn't done the way he wanted. So he requested for a new piece. Apparently the 2nd piece also wasn't done the way he wanted. =(

Dish #4 PORKY ONIONS

Sauteed pork chops with caramelised onions. The pork chops are a little too hard for my liking. BUT the veges and onions are simply heavenly!

This is a cafe where the starters are way better than their main courses. How weird. But I will still recommend this cafe to my friends provided they just order the starters and side dishes. Heh.

Something extra..

I tried out the new cheesy fondue pizza with Valerie and Ben sometime back. I was surprised that you can actually choose any type of pizza as your base crust.

As 'traditional' and 'bored' people, we chose the usual hawaii pizza. The cheese fondue was ok, the cheese in the pizza hardens quite fast, so you have to really eat it while it's hot. =)

My Slice of Life

For the past few weeks, I've been diligently posting entries from 'A Slice of Life' by Eugene Loh. Some said these posts are good and worth reading; some, however, see it as boring.

Well, this is very subjective, isn't it? Some like it, some don't. I find them meaningful, that's why I wanted to share with whoever reads my blog.

Thank you baby, for subscribing this for me. =)

Anyway, many times when I read them, I've sudden thoughts about that certain issue.; but just don't have the time to pen them down. Now, finally with a little free time, I'm gonna tell you MY slice of life..

A lot of stress, unhappiness, overeating and deliberate self-starving in life is caused by low self-esteem. A positive self-image is the cornerstone of a lasting relationship, and the more confident you are, the better you perform and consequently achieve success. - Building self-esteem (3 Aug)

Suddenly I feel that self confidence decreases as one gets older. At least that's what is happening to me right now. Friends, be it my age or even younger than me, are mostly graduates with a degree or diploma, and are successful in their career with at least 2-3 years of working experience.

But look at me. I'm still struggling in SIM with no career or whatsoever. Seems like I'm heading nowhere. My inferior complex is creeping out, slowly eating my confidence.

We do live in a highly competitive society and most of us have been taught that in order to survive, we have to be bigger, better, stronger, more good-looking, more popular, get better grades, close bigger deals. This culture of competition comes from the perception of scarcity of resources; that there is not enough to go around, that if you don't grab your slice of the pie you'll starve. - Life is not a competition (7 Aug)

How true. Beautiful people usually gets more privileges, are placed in higher priority and are being treated better than those who aren't so blessed in the looks department.

Remember Han-na in the korean movie '200 pounds beauty'? Although she has a great voice, no one thinks she looks good enough to go onstage. She suffers from extremely low self-esteem because of her physical appearance and decides to get full-body plastic surgery.

Do you often get upset because someone said something unkind to you or rejected you? Do you think that it's because there's something wrong with you? - Don't take it personally (9 Aug)

And why does it feels like the most natural reaction in the world for us to spontaneously jump to negative conclusions when something we perceive as unfair or offensive happens to us? - Not jumping to conclusions (10 Aug)

My current office is co-rent by 2 bosses - 1 interior design and 1 fashion design. To be frank, I don't really like the latter. He's loud and arrogant, and he doesn't even know my name despite I've been working there for more than a month!! Plus, he will walk pass my desk each time he needs to get to his office, and he don't even bother to say 'good morning' or 'hi'!

Initially I thought the problem lies with me. Maybe I don't look friendly or maybe I'm just a small fry so he can't be bothered with me. I was a little upset and didn't feel too good about myself.

But as time goes, I managed to convince myself that it's not worth getting affected. There are many many more things that I should focus on. Time is never enough, so why should I waste time on such minor matters, right?

We hunger for love, for sex, for respect, for attention, for success, for praise, for wealth, for material things. So we spend a lot of our time being hungry, always waiting for the time when that hunger is satisfied. But when that time comes, we just become hungry for something else. It seems no matter how much we consume, we're always craving more. - The curse of eternal hunger (11 Aug)

Well, the grass is always greener on the other side, isn't it? The truth is, we are never easily satisfy with what we already have. A higher-paying job, a faster car, a bigger house. We always want more, and it becomes a vicious cycle. To escape the curse, we need to pay attention to and appreciate the truly wonderful and miraculous things and people in our lives right now. Tell yourself how blessed you are with whatever you own and whoever is by your side right now. Think about it and you will realised how fortunate you are to own so much, so much more than many others.

Most of us have expectations of our partner in a romantic relationship... We may subscribe to certain ideals that may not even exist in real life. We may expect our partner to miraculously grow into the person that he or she, in truth, will never be... Whatever it is, expectations in relationships often lead to strife, frustration, disappointment, and sometimes, dissolution of the relationship. - Your expectations of your partner (13 Aug)

Isn't that always the case? We are different from one another; even twins have different characters and preferences. When we've expectations from our partners, they too, have expectations of us. However, few can truly become what their partners desire. Even if they do, they ain't themselves anymore; they have change into another person completely.

When we fall for someone, we like the person because of who they are. Then why do we want to change them into someone they are not? Ironic.. I think I'm one of them.. =p

What a Busy Day!

From Kembangan to Outram to Punggol, then LRT to Cove, Dear and I went all the way to Punggol to see this little Jack Russell Terrier (JRT).

Say hi to Patchy.

Thinking of adopting a dog again after many months of dog-less days. Been searching in forums and adoption websites before arriving to this suitable choice. Isn't he adorable? But Damn FAT lar! Small head, short legs, fat body. Kinda weird. Haha. But cute. =)

There are a few other choices:

Russel (JRT).

Champange (Cross Breed).

Which one should I take? I like all tho. =)

Anyway, after that Dear and I went to The Cathay to catch 'The Simpsons Movie'.

The jokes are kinda old and some parts aren't ever funny. Yet I still hear many laughing away at them. Is it my problem or the audience just find everything funny? But, the spider pig song is funny. Lame but funny. =)

After the movie, Dear and I rushed down to Merchants Court to meet his family for dinner. The buffet was so-so but the durian paste is a must-try! Thick and rich in durian! Yummy!! You won't regret it. Go and try some.. =)
