Time flies.

Before I knew it, 2007 is coming to an end. The year passes by so quickly. It was like just yesterday when I blogged about my reminiscences of 2006. Well, I would say this is a rather eventful year. Had my fair share of ups and downs; a few good laughs, shed some tears, but I somehow survived.

Been with my silly Baby for 8 months now. We've been through a lot before ending up together. A patient and tender man, he's always there for me, cheering me up, encouraging me, bringing joy to my life. Though we had arguments and disagreements at times, it brought us closer after resolving the issues. Enjoying the time we spent together. Cherishing every moment we had. The most precious one was at Siloso Beach Resort, when we were celebrating Baby's birthday.

After a long struggle in SIM, I'm finally a graduate. Though I took a longer path than others, I'm glad I didn't give up. At last, I'm able to enjoy the fruits of my labour. But frankly, I feel kind of lost now that I've more free time. P/S, my graduation ceremony will be in Aug / Sept 2008.

For the first time, I felt the 'cruelty' and 'reality' of the society. Bosses can fired employees Just Like That via sms. Bosses will try to ask you back indirectly (shamelessly) when the new guy isn't coming to work anymore. And bosses will only be nice to employees when they take time off from their current job to train the new guy. Isn't he an arsehole? Lucky for me, I soon found a fabulous new job. Loving it!~

My virgin experience at the Singapore International Salsa Festival (SISF). Got a once-in-a-lifetime chance to watch Spanish Harlem Orchestra played live, and actually dance to their music. Definitely a night to remember!

New Year Resolutions..

1. Lose some weight, Shed some fats (long-term battle..)

2. Polish my Salsa skills

3. Master Spanish and Japanese

4. Learn and Expose more to anything possible

5. Be a better Girlfriend and Daughter

6. Better Time management (as always..)

Things to look forward to..

1. SISF 2008

2. HK Trip in Mid July

My thanks to..

My parents, who are constantly taking my nonsense and insensibility, but still tolerate and shower me with love and care.

My Baby, Alvin, who is also constantly taking my unreasonable nonsense, but is still there for me. Thanks for not forsaking me.

My darlings from Salsalicious, who are always making fond memories for me to cherish for life. Especially Gret and Val, who are, again, constantly listening to my garbage complains and never-ending woes.

My secondary school mates, whom some are friends for more than 10 years. Unbelieveable but true. After so long, the friendship is still going strong. Perhaps stronger.

And to many others who have helped me and encouraged me.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Happy New Year People! Have a wonderful 2008!

I secretly have a plan. To be promoted to a consultant within a year. Is it possible?

Merry Christmas 2007

This year's christmas was a little special. I spent christmas eve with 3 other couples. Yap, 4 couples together. So much love in the air! =)

Dinner was at Tiong Bahru. We ordered So (Too) much food; everyone was so full but happy. Then it was off to Pit Stop Cafe at Clarke Quay.

Christmas, a season of giving

Had our company xmas bash today. Went for lunch at Da Paolo @ Rochester Park. It's casual cool European-style setting and the 16000 sf of lush green landscape dominated by giant grandfather trees give an immediate sense of having entered a different world.

It serves Italian cuisine, with a wide spread of home-made pasta, perfectly done meats, the freshest seafoods, the most aromatic of herbs and delicious pastries. I had a baby spinach, chicken breast and caramelized onion salad as starter, seafood spaghetti for main course and chocolate cake and coffee as dessert. Wonderfully satisfying meal.

The HR team dressed up as Santa Claus and Santa helpers. We had a few rounds of games, many good laughs, best dressed awards and a lucky draw. I got the 4th prize - $250 worth of Robinsons voucher. =)

Back in the office, we had the traditional gift exchange session. Actually, the moment I stepped into the office, there were already plenty of xmas gifts on my desk. Well, joy of sharing comes in all shapes and sizes, don't they? Though they ain't expensive or branded, it's the thought that counts.

Mahjong 麻将

In today's Lifestyle section lies an article on Mahjong Magic; more and more new unlikely converts - from students to yuppies to expats - are playing the ancient game without money exhanging hands.

As I was telling Baby, the game has always been a form of gambling since ancient times. One 風 may jolly well last for more than an hour. So why waste time if there is no real money involved? Seriously. Ask those who play mahjong frequently (for money) and you will know.

Mahjong (麻将), or Mádiào (馬吊) in early Ming dynasty, is a game for four players that originated in China. It usually has at least 136 tiles and involves skill, strategy, calculation and a certain degree of luck. The object of the game is to build complete suits from either 13 or 16 tiles. The first person to achieve this goal with a set of either 14 or 17 tiles wins the game.

A Mahjong set is split into three categories - suits, honor and flowers.

Suits - Characters 萬 (wan), Dots 餅 / 銅 (bing / tong) and Bamboos 條 (tiao)

t
Honor - Wind 東、南、西、北 (dong, nan, xi, bei) and Zhong Fa Bai 中、發、白

t
Flowers - 花 (hua)
