Was given half day leave by our company so decided to go ice skating at Kallang Leisure Park with my colleagues. I used to hang out at the roller-blading rink before they renovated the place. But that was years ago. Gosh, time flies!
Anyway, can't remember when was the last time I ice-skate. Initially was pretty scary cos there are a lot of people, mostly students and youngsters. Think the rink was half packed with people. But after a few rounds, it was pure fun! P/S: I DIDN'T fall down at all. =)
The centre of the rink is reserved for students and their instructors. It's quite interesting to see the instructors switched students every 45 mins. Now you see a little Chinese girl with this instructor, later you might see a little Caucasian grl.
Pricing: $14 for 2 hours in the rink, $2.50 per pair of skates, $1.50 per pair of gloves/socks (compulsory)
I was walking past the NTUC at Bedok central yesterday when I saw a lot of people crowding around this pillar like thing which is in the middle of the walkway. Being curious (or rather, kaypo) I walked nearer to take a closer look. To my amazement, it is somewhat like a huge "fortune pillar" - showing the luck (for 2009: Year of the Ox) in different aspects eg wealth, health, relationships, etc for each of the 12 zodiac signs in the Chinese astrology.
Actually, from the beginning of last week, similar emails were circulated in my office showing the luck for 2009 for each of the 12 signs, in both Chinese astrology and Western astrology. One of my colleagues actually bought a book with detailed analysis about her luck for her sign in the Chinese astrology.
Beliefs or Superstitious?
Well, all I can say is there are many who believe in such things. I myself like to read books on signs, zodiacs and astrology, but purely for fun. Beliefs or superstitious is only a thin line apart. Believing in yourself is still the best way out.
Christmas Eve, Christmas, Weekend. New Year Eve, New Year Day, Weekend.
How do you survive the 5 working days after 2 long weeks of holidays? Barely surviving. Most of my colleagues have caught the virus - Post Holiday Blues. No mood to work. Trying hard to focus and concentrate, and to stay awake.
Staring at the screen, reading the emails, suppressing a yawn. Gosh. Staying focus and trying to get work done becomes so difficult! But heck, at least the first week is gone and it's the weekends again! Precious 2 little days to just indulge in freedom from work.
How far will you go to atone for the sins and mistakes you have made? For some, it means giving up your life.
On the 1st day of 2009, I watched this heavy yet meaningful movie. Watching Seven Pounds is like playing with building blocks. Subtle hints were thrown throughout the movie to tell the audience what happened, what is happening and what is going to happen.
However, the audience has to be patient as the first half of the movie can be a little slow and baffling for some. Once you manage to endure it, you will finally see the true story and reason behind the protagonist's actions.
Definitely a movie worth watching. 4.5 stars from me! =D
2008 hasn't been a good year for me. A lot happened; good and bad, happy and sad. Well, brand new year brand new hopes. Hopefully, 2009 will be much better.
HAPPY NEW YEAR! MAY EVERYONE BE BETTER N HAPPIER IN 2009! CHEERS! =D
