Just got back from a late night performance by a local singer, Joanna Dong. I first know about her when I attended her lunchbox @ esplanade concert - jazz dim sum back in January. Today also marks the debut of her EP - Lullaby Nomad. Think I will get it..
Found one of her clips during the jazz dim sum concert. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do! =)
My friend's ex-colleague just passed away this afternoon. It was so sudden. I don't know this lady personally but hearing her passed away just like that and at such a young age really breaks my heart. A sudden feeling a sadness perhaps. It seems like her condition deteriorated suddenly and she just left us.
How unpredictable and fragile life is. Everything just happened so suddenly; sometimes we don't even have the time to react. To be frank, I think it's a relief for her and I believe she is going to a better place. And I pity the person who has to break the news to everyone else. I've been through it before and trust me, even the mere mentioning of "the person is no longer with us" is too much to bear.
To the lady's family and closed friends, though you may not read this, be strong.
Note: I wrote another entry related to this, but accidentally overwrite it! =(
Sense of Home Every Sunday starting 14th Sept 10pm Channel 5
"A unique drama anthology that is filmed entirely overseas. A collection of four stories about Singaporeans abroad - living, working, traveling or simply lost."
"Baby Blues" - An expat couple living in Shanghai fighting over whether to have their baby in China or Singapore...
To have the baby in Singapore or in China? I guess what's important is where you truly call Home. Perhaps China is the place where you work in, where you reside in, but is it really Home? To me, home is a special place where you belong, where you grew up, where your friends and family are; a place that you're familiar with and a place with many fond and precious memories.
Like what is mentioned in the show, the baby will be a Singaporean cos the parents are Singaporeans. But a Singaporean born and raise in Singapore is different from a Singaporean born and raise in China. Who knows if the baby might grow up with an identity crisis? (Okay maybe I'm exaggerating a little, but you'll never know..) The bottom line is I want my children to be a part of the place where I call Home. (Very patriotic, hor?) Sidetracking a little, I'm quite impressed with this drama. For a local production, I would say it's pretty good. The storyline, the plot and the values behind it, it's definitely worth watching.
It stopped for quite a while due to the Olympics, now it is finally back! I didn't know it was back last week and I missed it! Luckily it was only the results show. Too bad Jesus and Jessi got cut. I really like them. Oh well, this IS a competition.
Anyway, I last blogged about my favs in performance round 3; Pasha was doing the cha cha with a sub dancer - Melanie. He and Jessi did their version during last week's results show. Check it out!
I will blog about my favs on today's performance round 4 (top 14). Stay tuned!
In the distant future, a small waste collecting robot inadvertently embarks on a space journey that will ultimately decide the fate of mankind.
For an animation without much dialogues, Wall-e is quite entertaining. Most of my friends said it's boring and a waste of money and time. But actually, there is educational values behind it. Worth watching. Besides, Wall-e and Eve are so adorable! =)
A nice song to recommend to all music lovers - 你是我的眼aby 蕭煌奇- a blind singer who's full of talent and passion. The first MTV clip is rather sad. The second clip is the version by Yoga 林宥嘉. Hope you guys love this song as much as I do. P/S: try searching for his hokkien songs in Youtube. You will be surprised. =) 蕭煌奇 你是我的眼
