Martial arts + Comedy = JUMP!

Jump tells the story of a Korean family who are well-versed in martial arts, with a crotchety grandfather who enjoys nothing more than to challenge the rest of the family in martial arts showdowns. Their expertise is eventually used to repel two burglars who break into their house.

The cast showed off their extensive training in martial arts, acrobatic and gymnastic moves, as well as comic acting all at the same time, leading to an unstoppable hilarious effect!

Even without much dialogue, Jump is a brilliant hyperactive sitcom; bringing much joy and laughter to my otherwise dull Saturday afternoon.

Japanese Randomness Final - today back in office

My colleague's BF bought some onigiri back from Japan and I ate 4 different flavors in 1 day! *hao xin fu~*

ALTERNATIVE TEXT HERE

A row of onigiri, waiting to be eaten. Mwahaha! (from bottom) - seaweed, salmon, pickled ume (umeboshi) and chicken.

And UMEBOSHI!

Personal fav - salmon and seaweed. Least fav - umeboshi (unique but I'm not a big fan of sour stuff)

Japanese Randomness Part 2 - 29th August @ Ichiban Sushi @ PS

ALTERNATIVE TEXT HERE

Went down to PS after dance rehearsal. Sudden craving for ramen and curry. So we went to Ichiban Sushi on L6. But there is no ramen. =( Just have to settle for something else.

Japanese Randomness Part 1 - 27th August @ Benten Cafe @ Illuma

Tucked in a cosy corner of Illuma, Benten Cafe is a little restaurant selling Japanese cuisine. From the website, I thought it is a pasta-pizza place. But apparently, they don't sell pasta. The menu is quite impressive for a restaurant this size. We each ordered a main and a pizza to share.

Black pepper chicken and fried ebi hotplate.

Pork cutlet curry rice.

ALTERNATIVE TEXT HERE

Teriyaki chicken baked rice.

ALTERNATIVE TEXT HERE

Hamburger yakisoba.

Hawaiian pizza.

Personally, I only like the curry rice and the hamburger (NOT the yakisoba!) The rest are not great enough to capture my appetite. The dessert menu looks tempting. Maybe I will go back again specially for that.

Birthday gathering @ Ma Maison

This is my first visit to this Italian-Japanese restaurant in Bugis Junction. Little cottage interior design; maybe a little too dim, but still a comfortable environment. It's not very spacious inside so you might wanna be careful how you move around.

Introducing the MENU for the night. First up, the starters.

ALTERNATIVE TEXT HERE

CAESAR SALAD - the amount of dressing is just nice and the taste isn't too overpowering. The vege is fresh and crispy.

ALTERNATIVE TEXT HERE

BAKED MINI POTATOES WITH CHEESE AND PRAWN - 1 word "Heavenly". 1 serving is not enough.

Next up, the main courses.

ALTERNATIVE TEXT HERE

SIZZLING HAMBURGER STEAK - beef patty, egg, vege and fries - very simple ingredients, yet tied together beautifully with their special sauce.

ALTERNATIVE TEXT HERE

Side note: the reason why it's called sizzling hamburger steak is probably becos a server will heat up a small pan of oil and pour it over the steak to create the sizzling sound and flame. Imagine a miniature Flaming Lamborghini.

ALTERNATIVE TEXT HERE

CUBE BEEF IN BROWN SAUCE w SCRAMBLED EGG RICE - personally feel that it's nothing special and probably won't order it again.

ALTERNATIVE TEXT HERE

GRILLED FISH FILLET - lightly grilled fillet topped with potato, vege and a piece of cheese. Still prefer the grilled salmon at TCC. *drool at the thought of the banana sauce*

ALTERNATIVE TEXT HERE

PORK CUTLET served on wire mesh - outer skin fried to prefection, locking the juice within the tender meat.

ALTERNATIVE TEXT HERE

The complimenting sauce comes in a jar. Doesn't it reminds you of Winnie the Pooh's honey jar?

ALTERNATIVE TEXT HERE

Lastly, CUTTLEFISH INK PASTA - a popular dish normally shunned by ladies as the squid ink stain lip, teeth and tongue. (Not a wise choice on a first date) A unique taste but the serving of thinly sliced cuttlefish and mushroom is kind of pathetic.

ALTERNATIVE TEXT HERE

The Key to your Heart? Nah, it's the Key to your Bill.

Verdict: Overall a satisfying meal. Will go back again to try out other dishes.

ALTERNATIVE TEXT HERE

A surprise bouquet for Val - for her birthday as well as to cheer her up.

Sometimes you just need to move on and look ahead.

This is the important message I learnt from this movie. Go watch it, it's worth the money.

Happy Birthday, Mommy!

My mama celebrates her 60th birthday today. Gave her a treat at Pariss Seafood International Buffet and invited some close relatives to join in the celebration.

Surprised her with a bouquet of gerbera daisies. The bright orange and yellow matches her cheerful character, I like. Heh. :D

Happy family - Papa, Mama & me.
